FAQ
Provide a general overview of your project. Make a simple hand-drawn sketch of each piece of countertop with measurements (close is good enough). Mark each edge that will be finished with the letter "E". Select an actual slab of stone to be quoted, and an edge profile. Submit this information along with your name, address, phone number, and email. Final pricing will be done after a field laser measurement and/or template of your project, and selection of the actual stone slab(s) to be used.
Free quotes will be processed within 24 business hours. We will email the estimate to the email address provided.
Masters Countertops accepts credit cards, personal check, certified check, Quickpay with Zelle or cash. Because all of our work is custom cut to fit your needs and our quick turnaround times, most projects are paid in one lump sum prior to fabrication. Please speak with one of our Sales Representatives for more details.
Yes! Masters has a showroom attached to our stone fabrication facility in Wheeling, IL (363 Alice Street). We are open Monday–Friday 9am–5pm and Saturday 9am–3pm. Walk-ins are always welcome!
Masters Countertops warrants the labor associated with fabrication and installation of natural stone and engineered stone countertops, in residential projects, for a period of one year. Engineered stone products may carry a separate Manufacturer's Warranty.
Quartz is a natural crystal and one of the hardest minerals on earth. Quartz countertops are considered an "engineered stone" — natural Quartz crystal (93%–97%) is mixed with coloring and bonding agents to form an extremely durable and maintenance-free slab. Quartz is less likely to crack or chip compared to Granite or Marble, and is non-porous so it will not harbor bacteria. It is resistant to stains from oil, juice, wine, coffee, and more.
Granite is an igneous rock with high quartz content making it very hard, though somewhat porous. Applying a sealer every few years helps it resist staining. Marble is a metamorphic rock that is softer and more porous than granite, prized for its beauty. Marble should be sealed regularly and is best suited for interior spaces like a master bath or furniture top.
Quartz is an engineered material (93%–97% quartz agglomerate mixed with resins), designed to give the look of marble with very low maintenance. Natural Quartzite is a metamorphic rock with marble-like patterns while being very dense and strong. Because quartzite is less abundant, it usually starts at a higher price point.
Yes — sealing is definitely recommended because granite and marble are porous materials. Liquids that contact the surface can leech into the stone causing discoloration and staining. Sealing helps ensure spills remain on the surface until cleaned off, retaining the stone's original appearance.
Once the final measurement and fabrication is completed, an average kitchen of 50 SF can be installed in about 3–4 hours. Factors like number of pieces, cut-outs, and overall project size can affect this estimate.
Masters Countertops requires a layout approval to eliminate any miscommunication and fully meet your expectations. You will receive a photo layout of your new countertops before they are cut, showing the overall look and seam placement. This allows you to address any concerns and ensure there will be no surprises on installation day.
Clear all items from your existing countertops. Ensure clear access for the delivery team. If needed, remove old countertops before installation (Masters offers removal services for an additional price). Make sure plumbing and electrical connections are ready. Communicate any specific preferences or concerns with our team before the installation date.
Most kitchens will have a seam due to material and handling limitations. Our engineering department works hard to line up veining and movement within the material you have chosen. Masters Countertops will provide a countertop layout prior to fabricating your countertop so you can see where seams will be located. We use the most up-to-date tools and techniques to achieve the best seams in the industry.
